I have one cat and I've been using the silica litter (big pieces, not fine silica) for one year. My cat didn't have any problem switching from her clay clumping litter. I love this system. My preference is to put out new litter every three weeks so that's the delivery schedule I'm on. I stir the litter once a day and scoop the poop as soon as I find it. My cat doesn't bury the poop. The litter box is in my bedroom so I'm fussy about how it smells. I flush the poop down the toilet so I don't have any stinky poop in the garbage and no big clumps of urine to bag. It's been wonderful not dragging heavy boxes of litter, emptying the litter box, washing it out, etc. There's minimal dust. The clay litter was terribly dusty. The little balls of silica get stuck in my cats paws sometimes so I find them here and there but they're easy to pick up. With the clay litter I'd find paw prints on tables but not so with the silica. Great stuff.... Worth every penny.

The Master Lock key lockbox is one of the more durable options. Its metal body and vinyl-coated shackle will survive for a long period. When I tried it out, I was amazed by how sturdy and well-made it felt.

I am on my second month of the silica litter. I do like the convenience of having everything sent to me and the disposal of it. It was 3 weeks thought that I had to go ahead and order my box. Also, I wonder if anyone else’s cat will not cover the poop in the silica. I wonder if next month I will try the fine grain and maybe he will cover it.

I am glad to red something about snow since I am in a part of California where it does not snow. I does got cold wind chills and of course colder in the winter at times with the rain and wind. It is not the California dessert, although it is something to keep in mind and be aware of even in some parts of California where it does not snow. I am trying to get into pet sitting. I am still doing online and trying in my area to find if there are a few agencies to apply.

The beauty of owning your own business means YOU make all the rules and trust me, those rules will change the longer you're in business. We no longer require deposits. It's just too much of a pain to log in and track (to me anyway). For vacation clients, we require payment the day the service starts. For our midday dog walking clients, we bill by the week. Hope that helps.

I currently require a 25% non-refundable deposit due at the time of booking due to the reason that I may decline other reservations in order to accommodate client's schedules and pets. And they may also be reserving services at a very busy time for me. I never used to require the deposit but I got tired of booking clients and turning down others only for them to cancel on me last minute and I already turned down the others which I lost income for. I also require the remaining balance to be paid the 1st day of service, no exceptions. Does this sound like a fair policy? I've never had a problem with it but now I'm starting to get potential clients who have an issue with paying up front before services are rendered so I'm losing potential income.

Thanks for the clarification that I can expect professional home pet sitting services to be employees and not independent contractors. I might need to hire one soon because I will need to visit my parents this weekend in order to help out while my father is sick. It would be more troublesome to bring my dog along for the trip so it would be best to just hire a sitter.
