I have been on a quest of sorts to find my favorite cat litter. One that clumps tightly, doesn’t have an overpowering odor and low dust and tracking. I have tried several kinds and will continue to sample different brands until I can determine a favorite. Continue reading

I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for the new Tidy Cat Lightweight cat litter. I decided to give it a try and review it for you. Continue reading
Pet Sitters spend a lot more time in their vehicles than the average person. When we are busy, we almost live out of our vehicles. Imagine spending your day getting in and out of your vehicle every 20-30 minutes. During peak times we have been known to eat our meals in our cars which tends to make things very messy. Continue reading
Anyone that owns pets know that with pets come the occasional accident. Our home is no exception. We have two dogs and three cats so it’s inevitable. We are used to small accidents since our youngest dog, Parker, tends to ‘piddle’ when he gets excited. Those are no problem to clean up and don’t usually require a lot of effort. Recently however Parker couldn’t wait to go out one morning and he peed on our living room carpet. Continue reading
So often you read nothing but negative reviews online. People who have a bad experience will ten people but someone who has a good experience may only tell one. There are so many good businesses in our area and we’d like to take a moment to give a shout out to some of our favorites. Customer service isn’t dead, it’s just not as common as it used to be. Those places that do go the extra mile and provide stellar customer service should be recognized. If you haven’t heard of these businesses, check them out. We don’t recommend places lightly. I have free ranging chickens. They are very beneficial in keeping the tick population under control and therefore I do not want to confine them to a fenced in area. The problem I’m having is chickens like to dust bathe. Mulched flower beds are prime dust bathing spots and my chickens have been digging massive holes in my flower beds and are destroying our landscaping. This made my husband VERY unhappy. After doing some research I decided to give the Contech Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinkler a try. Continue reading
For those of you following along you probably remember reading the post about Bob And The Case Of The Mysterious Balding Ears. His ear problems had me stumped. A friend of mine who is a Vet Tech suggested I try giving him some Fatty Acids. She said she had seen many pets coming in with similar problems due to the long, cold winter (is it ever going to be over?). Continue reading
Ladies and gentleman I’d like to introduce you to the best invention EVER! As many of you know, we own two Jack Russells. Zach is almost 15 and Parker is 2. They get along great and are good (albeit crazy) dogs. Unfortunately, they started marking the house so we have no choice but to crate them at night. Zach has been showing signs of some dementia which flares its ugly head every night when it’s time for bed. The very moment that crate door closes he goes crazy. We endured many nights that got progressively worse. He whines, cries, barks and howls which in turn gets Parker going. This went on All. Night. Long. For about a week. We had finally had enough. We needed sleep. Continue reading
I’m sure you know what it’s like living with cats. You don’t need to set an alarm because cats have some cosmic way of knowing EXACTLY what time they should be fed down to the nanosecond. Our cats are no exception. They sleep in my office at night otherwise they bounce off the walls and keep us awake. This works out great except for the rare days I can actually sleep in. If I don’t get up at EXACTLY 5:02am to feed them their breakfast they start scratching on the door. Some mornings they start as early at 4:30am! I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed sleep. If you share your home with both dogs and cats, chances are you’ve dealt with your dog snacking in the litterbox. Gross, yes? If you have a dog with pancreatitis you know that fatty foods (and snacks) are verboten.
Our 14 year old Jack Russell was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis and despite our best efforts controlling his food intake he kept having recurrences. Then it hit me. It was the cat poop that he was snacking on that was causing the issue. I tried putting the litter box up and out of reach of the dog. That didn’t work. The cats didn’t like the new location. So, I did some research and came upon the CleverCat Innovations Top Entry Litter Box. It looked like the solution to our problem.
